About The Artist
Chip “Mancub” Corwin is one of San Francisco’s top DJs, known for his eclectic range, deep musical instincts, and high-energy sets that move every crowd. Originally from Louisiana, Chip grew up surrounded by music—playing instruments, collecting vinyl, and developing an ear that would shape his signature style behind the decks.
His path started early. After seeing a DJ perform with Ice Cube at Lollapalooza 1992 in New Orleans, he knew it was something he could do. He taught himself to DJ on Technics turntables, building a collection rooted in pop, funk, and hip-hop before expanding into electronic, trip-hop, house, breaks, and drum and bass during the genre-blending wave of the late ’90s.
While living in Boulder, Chip launched his first DJ night at the Boulderado Hotel and quickly gained traction, earning a residency at SOMA where he opened for artists like LTJ Bukem, Thievery Corporation, King Britt, Greyboy, Kruder & Dorfmeister, and more. His versatility and deep crates kept him booked almost nightly.
After moving to San Francisco in the early 2000s, Chip joined the Space Cowboys, becoming a headline DJ and a key contributor to the city’s iconic Breakfast of Champions. He was voted a Top 10 DJ in San Francisco three times in the mid-2000s and later joined Sleevin Records, producing EDM and breaks.
Over the years, Chip has spent more than a decade touring nationally, performing at major festivals including Electric Forest, Outside Lands, Burning Man, Northern Nights, High Sierra Music Festival, and BottleRock Napa Valley. His experience ranges from intimate gatherings to massive stages, including performing for over a million people at the 2017 Golden State Warriors championship parade.
Today, Chip holds residencies across the Bay Area, from family-focused sets at the Bay Area Discovery Museum to high-energy cruises and local nightlife staples like The Missouri Lounge. His sound is a seamless blend of funk, soul, hip-hop, Top 40, New Orleans bounce, world music, and deep house—always tailored to the moment.
Beyond performing, Chip is a seasoned event producer and festival professional, having worked with HUSHconcerts as a stage manager, technician, and in-house DJ. He’s also delivered standout experiences for clients including NASCAR, Sony, Red Bull, and the Museum of Sonoma County.
Mancub remains a go-to DJ for weddings, private events, festivals, and corporate experiences—bringing unmatched versatility, crowd awareness, and energy to every set.
★★★★★“Congrats, you've found the best wedding DJ. DJ Mancub (Chip Corwin) and Sounds Elevated provided comprehensive sound for our entire wedding. It began with some live guitar down on the lawn, then they had our officiant and myself on lapel mics for the ceremony. They moved the live guitarist up for the cocktail hour and then had a perfect dinner playlist ready to go. Chip MC'd the entire event beautifully for us. Everything about the process is fully customizable, so you can have the sound you want at your wedding.
That was all fine and well and then their true expertise came out. My friends and I go to a lot of live music and music festivals and DJ Mancub had the perfect set planned. He seamlessly incorporated classic wedding hits that kept my family on the dance floor, and transitioned into the modern music my friends and I love to party to. The dance floor was bouncin'. The equipment including speakers and lighting were professional grade. The sound was amazing.
Chip and Sounds Elevated were extremely easy to communicate with throughout the planning process. Our wedding planner noted that this is the best sound team she has worked with thanks to a combination of their wedding day professionalism as well as planning and communication leading up to the event. I cannot recommend DJ Mancub and Sounds Elevated enough.”
